Doncaster’s Civic Deputy Mayor officially opens new supported-living service

Virtue Health Services are proud to announce their first Community Pathway – Ashdale House – is now officially open. The Civic Deputy Mayor of Doncaster, Linda Curran, cut the ribbon to declare the brand-new supported-living service as open, on Wednesday 11 March.

The all-new service will provide quality care and support to two adults living with complex needs, such as learning disabilities, autism and mental health. Ashdale House is a home within the local community, which has been completely renovated to ensure it is fit for purpose.

The now two-bedroomed home is complete with en-suite bathrooms for both guests, a communal living room, kitchen, dining room and large garden.

Karen Stanley, Head of Development and Commissioning at Virtue Health Services, said: “At Virtue, we set out to deliver a moral of excellence. We’re extremely proud of what we’ve achieved – we’ve had some amazing feedback from the Care Quality Commission, local social workers and referral units.

“We can’t wait to continue our journey with our new members of staff, where we will all look forward to providing a complete care package to two individuals, giving them hope, dignity and most importantly, a more independent life.”

Ahead of the opening of Ashdale House, the Care Quality Commission visited the service to register it as an official supported-living home. Praise was given stating: “The service was passed without any question – the quality was outstanding, the interior feels much like your own home and there is no doubt the care provided will be excellent.

There is a real shortage of such quality, supported living services in the area, especially for learning disabilities – Ashdale House will make a wonderful home for two individuals who require care and support.”

Following the registration of the service, local social workers visited Ashdale House, with the hope to refer individuals who could really benefit from the care and support provided with Virtue.

As the Civic Deputy Mayor of Doncaster cut the ribbon, she quoted: “Ashdale House is a real home. Nothing about it feels like a care home – the facilities enable individuals to live an independent life as much as possible, whilst still having access to the care they need.

“As Virtue Health Services continue to expand their offering, with the development of their second service, I am sure more individuals will be equipped with the confidence and support to develop their skills and identity, within their community.”

At Virtue Health Services we equip individuals with the confidence and skills to develop an identity within their community, make their own decisions and live the best version of their life. With a focus on rehabilitation into a more independent life, we still provide the much required care and support. So, even if individuals cannot live without some form of care and support, they are still more independent than they perhaps thought achievable.

Our dedicated team works with individuals and families to develop goals and support them to maintain and develop their skills, transitioning along a pathway towards independence. Make a referral today.
